Wallace about her instant New York Times best seller, Never Enough: When Achievement Pressure Becomes Toxic - and What We Can Do About It. Drawing on hundreds of interviews with families, psychologists, educators, and a survey of 6,500 parents, Wallace investigates the deep roots of toxic achievement culture at "high-achievement schools" and the negative impact it has on our student's mental health and overall well-being. We hope you will join us to learn what you can do to buffer against the excessive pressures many of our students are feeling, so we can collectively work to protect our student's mental health and set them up to thrive this upcoming school year. Join Principal Denise Dubravec for a discreet and informative panel discussion aimed at addressing the recent increase in eating disorders among teenagers across the country. As parents and guardians, your involvement and awareness are instrumental in combating this concerning trend.
Our panel discussion will feature esteemed experts in the fields of medicine, mental health, and adolescent development, each specializing in eating disorders. They will provide valuable insights on identifying signs of disordered thinking about eating and eating patterns, offer guidance on how to communicate health-promoting behaviors, ways to equip our young individuals with the tools they need to maintain a healthy relationship with their bodies and food, and strategies and resources for intervening.

Interested in learning usable information about standardized testing and college admissions? The Class of 2025 is experiencing the biggest change to the SAT in a century with the digital, adaptive PSAT and SAT. The introduction of a digital assessment comes at a poignant time in today's admission context, where colleges are actively interrogating the value of standardized testing in students' applications. And while many schools have retained softened testing policies in the wake of the pandemic, admission offices demonstrate varying preferences for test scores. Hear from the experts at Compass Education Group as they lead a pragmatic discussion of how to navigate these changes. Presentation topics will include: the adaptive design of the Digital PSAT & SAT, the value of the Digital PSAT for diagnostic and National Merit purposes, fresh admissions data from test score submitters and non-submitters, making sense of the subtlety and variety of testing policies, the evolving role of AP grades and exam scores, making an informed choice between the ACT and SAT, and how to build a successful prep timeline.

Join us for an illuminating conversation with Ben Wildavsky, author of The Career Arts: Making the Most of College, Credentials, and Connections. The event will take place Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 6:30 - 8 p.m. in C234 at the Northfield Campus. Ben Wildavsky is a visiting scholar at the University of Virginia's School of Education and Human Development. He is the award-winning author of The Great Brain Race and co-editor of Reinventing Higher Education and Measuring Success. He is the host and co-producer of the Higher Ed Spotlight podcast. In his conversation with Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, Peter Tragos, Wildavsky will discuss how students can prepare for success in a dynamic world by acquiring a mixture of broad education, targeted skills, and social capital - what he calls the "Career Arts." They'll discuss why the college degree remains the gold standard of credentials and how career-connected learning enhances opportunities for success. A Q&A session will follow their discussion.
